Gagana was blessed to be born in a family where dance and music was adored and encouraged. She began her lessons at the early age of 7 under Guru Prof. M. R. Krishna Murthy at Kalakshithi School of Fine Arts, Bangalore.

After undergoing 15 years of rigorous training and practice in the traditional Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam under the able guidance and tutelage of her Guru, she completed her Rangapravesha/Arangetram in the year 2011 at JSS Mahavidyapeetha Shivarathreeswara center, Bangalore.

She also continued her sadhana under Guru Smt. Suma Nagesh and perfected the nuances of her Abhinaya. She has participated in the workshops conducted by Prof. A. Janardhanan, former principal of Kalakshetra, Chennai and has also got tutoring during her dance performances.

She accomplished her Vidwath Examination in Bharatnatyam conducted by Karnataka State Board, Bangalore. She has been molded meticulously by her Gurus into a distinct Performer. This aesthetic combination of Bharatanatyam techniques and Kalakshetra Bani is what makes her dance enchanting. She is a Graded Bharatanatyam Artiste of Doordarshan, Bangalore.

Gagana continues her learning and exploring of the art form under Guru Prof. M. R. Krishna Murthy.


Currently lives in Texas, USA and runs her own institution Kalakshithija School of Fine Arts.


Gagana being one of the senior most disciple of Guru Prof. M. R. Krishna Murthy, trains the students of Kalakshithi. She excelled as an enduring and favorite teacher to many and began to prepare students for their Rangapraveshas/Arangetrams. She has also choreographed dance pieces like Devi Sthuthis, Devaranamas and Krithis during Kalakshithi School programs and has guided students during their dance recitals.

She has an all-round understanding of the arts including training in Nattuvangam. Having gifted with music knowledge and skilled at tala-laya, she renders theermanas and jathis with ease.


Gagana began her Carnatic music training at the age of 6 under Guru Smt. Amba Venkataramiah at Kalakshithi School of Fine Arts, Bangalore. She completed her Carnatic Music Junior Exam conducted by The Karnataka State Board, Bangalore in May 2004 with first class. She has rendered as vocalist in many of the dance programs at Kalakshithi.

She further continued her Senior Carnatic music training under the guidance of Guru Smt. Bhamini. She is also trained by Dr. Sri. Vidyabhushana with his mellifluous Devaranamas and Ugabhogas.



Gagana has also set her foot in the field of 'Yakshagana'. She had always found this form  of art very fascinating. She gave her first performance for Rukmini Devi Centenary Celebrations at Kalakshithi School of Fine Arts.

This was for the play 'Lava-Kusha' in 2015. She played the role of 'Pushkala'.

Gagana has been an active participant/tutor and a board member of DFW Yakshagana Havyasis in Dallas, TX. Latest yakshagana performance as role Shri Krishna for Kannada Vasantha Sahithyothsava in April 2022

Gagana holds Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Instrumentation Technology. She studied in RNS Institute of Technology, Bangalore and passed with Distinction in the year 2012.

She worked as Research and Development Engineer at Nokia Networks for nearly 4 years.
